Top 10 Tips… for Winter Riding!
As the winter sets in, temperatures drop and the nights draws in it can be tempting to store your motorbike or scooter away until spring and catch the bus or take the car instead! But winter can be a beautiful and exhilarating time to go out for a ride, as long as you take extra care.
Clean
Make sure your lights are cleaned regularly so you have maximum visibility and other road users can also see you!
Maintained
The last thing you want is to break down or have an accident so make sure your tyres have the correct tread depth and air pressure. Also test lights, indicators and that the brakes are working properly.
Oil & Petrol
Check you fill these up regularly so you don’t run out or have to make an unnecessary detour to a garage!
Keep warm
Have the correct riding gear is essential plus add those extra layers. You won’t respond so quickly to a situation with cold hands or feet!
Keep seen
Wear high-visibility clothing as well – this will help others see you!
Plan extra time
If you are making a longer journey include extra stops to have warm drinks and a break.
