Vespa World Days 2010

Book early for Vespa World Days in Fatima, Portugal.

Fatima, a world-famous pilgrimage site, became a tourist venue in the early 20th Century due to the reported sightings of the Virgin Mary, or Our Lady of the Rosary as she's locally referred to. This city of about 8,000 inhabitants is part of the municipality of Vila Nova de Ourem, located south of Porto and north of Lisbon, and surrounded by wild, even primitive terrain of barren desolation spreading towards the horizon however, with flocks of pilgrims visiting twice a year, in May and October, its quickly transformed into a larger site.

The date for Vespa World Days is 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th July which means ferries will be more difficult to book for the times you require as more people go away from the end of June for their summer holidays. Already some hotels in Fatima are fully booked.

Details of the event and full program are on the website : www.vespaworlddays2010.com  or link from www.vespinga.com

Please note the price of enrolment, which is up to the 31/01/2010 is 65 Euros, between 01/02/2010 and 30/04/ 2010 is 75 Euros and between 01/05/2010 and 31/05/2010 is 100 Euros. This year you can book your own entry/enrolments direct with the organizers through their website and we suggest you book in groups of three or more as a club, but you will need to let Peter know by email peter.burley@vespaclubofbritain.co.uk who has booked and for whom as all entries/enrolments have to be checked at the end of each month.

Ways to get there.

Well you can get a ferry to France and ride/drive the 1,400+ miles or so, or ferry to Spain and ride/drive the 490 miles although this ferry is quite expensive. Your third option might be to fly to Lisbon and hire scooter from Scooter Mania in Lisbon and ride up to Fatima some 80 miles.

Some Vespa Club members have already booked into Cruz Alta Hotel(now full) in Fatima which is about 1.5 miles from the rally site at the Municipal Stadium of Fatima.

We are now booking into Hotel 4 Estaçõe http://www.booking.com
